Inexpensive UPS systems for protection against most network failures
Why use a UPS?
1. You prevent hardware damage caused by voltage sags and spikes. Many UPS models deliver a continuous supply of incoming power.
2. It prevents data loss and data distortion. Without UPS, system data can be corrupted or even lost completely by a sudden uncontrolled shutdown. Used together with a power management software, the UPS can guarantee a controlled system shutdown.
3. It delivers full network and application availability by avoiding downtimes. UPSs can also be used together with power generators to allow sufficient time to boot the generators in the event of a power failure.
The power needed by an UPS system can be calculated by applying a simple rule of thumb. The power of the connected supply in watts is multiplied by a 1.4 factor to obtain the required VA (Volt ampere) specification.
Example:
1000 Watt power supply pack equals: 1000 Watt x 1.4 = 1400 VA
Therefore, in this case, a 1400 VA system.
