What is a Vista™ capable PC™?


A Windows Vista™ capable PC is a new PC with the „Windows Vista™ capable PC“ logo; Windows Vista™ can be run on such a PC. All editions of Windows Vista offer innovative core functionalities for the organisation and search of data and information. Moreover, they offer new features for safety and reliability. All Windows Vista™ capable PCs will include at least these core functions. For some features available in the Premium editions of Windows Vista™, such as the new Windows ® Aero™ environment, additional hardware will be required.

A Windows Vista™ capable PC offers the following default features:

  • a modern processor (with min. 800 MHz)
  • min. 512 MB system memory
  • a DirectX 9-capable graphics processing unit

    A Windows Vista™ Premium Ready PC offers the following default features:

  • 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
  • 1 GB main memory
  • a graphics processing unit which is capable of executing Windows® Aero™
  • 128 MB graphics memory
  • 40 GB fixed disc storage with 15 GB free storage
  • DVD-ROM drive
  • Function for audio output
  • Function for internet access
