Qlogic FC Switches

The SANbox 5600 products from QLogic are one of the first stackable Fibre Channel switch products on the market. Designed as an entry solution, they can be used by companies to configure a high-performance 4 GBit/s storage network.
Besides sixteen 4 GBit/s ports, the systems also offer an additional four 10 GBit/s interswitch link ports. These can be used, for example, to connect single modules in one stack and deliver low delay times when transferring information between single switches.
A special feature provided by the SANbox 5600 switches, is the "pay-as-you-grow" principle which allows you to extend the SAN when needed. When using the 16-port standard version, companies can start with an 8-port configuration.
When storage demands grow, you can add other ports in four-port increments by paying for the extra software license costs. A total of six components can be connected to a maximum upgradeability of up to 96 ports per stack. Installation, configuration, monitoring, diagnosis and upgradeability of SANbox 5600 switches can be executed with one single program included on delivery which meets all handling demands.
The clear graphical interface is user-friendly and the Wizard applications support product setup and management. Without requiring much previous know-how, IT managers can administer all tasks involved in integrating and managing one or multiple stacks in a SAN environment without relying on the help of SAN experts.
