AIT drives
![]() |
The Sony Advanced Intelligent Tape (AIT) technology was launched in 1996. The drives are built just as compactly as DAT, but are considerably quicker in transfer rate, data retrieval and media change. The ALDC data compression with 1:2.6 is more efficient than other formats.
AIT drives are also designed for continuous operation and are significantly more reliable here than DAT, the media can be rewritten more often, and that with comparably similar costs.
AIT Turbo is ideal for daily data backup - compact, reliable, quick and convenient. At the same time, the turbo drives can read and write media from their "classic AIT" predecessor.
Whereas AIT drives are provided for higher storage requirements and WORM support.
