The opening ceremony on May 31, 2008 marked the completion of a signifi cant and extensive project for the Swiss National Park: after a planning and building phase stretching over 6 years, the new National Park Centre in Zernez was fi nally complete. Offering enough space for up to 250 visitors, the exhibition centre required terminals to serve as information points. Numerous PCs from different providers were tested but the Mini PC developed by transtec proved most convincing. The Mini PC, SENYO 610, is one of the smallest PCs on the market. Weighing just 1.3 kilograms and measuring just 17.2 centimetres in length and 4.2 centimetres in height, it is similar in size to a CD drive. At 20 dBA, noise emission is whisper quiet. Despite its compact exterior, the SENYO 600 doesn’t lag behind other standard desktop PCs in terms of performance. The Mini PC managed to meet all the requirements of the new National Park Centre where visitors want to stay and fi nd out information without being disturbed.

The project also involved the National Park Centre integrating two transtec PROVIGO storage systems for their internal IT needs which run in a Unix environment with transtec servers. To leverage maximum availability, the data is mirrored between both systems.
„We will defi nitely work together with transtec in the future and are already planning virtualising our servers. Being a solutions provider, transtec can provide the required virtualisation know-how. I’ve been impressed by transtec and appreciate the fast and reliable support which is vital with complex projects and installations. The fi rst pilot tests should start in Spring 2010,“

explains Christoph Mühlethaler, IT manager.

The Balzerborn hospitals form a highly modern rehabilitation centre for individual diagnostic procedures fitted with all the necessary equipment. Special examinations can be carried out at the nearby University Hospital in Göttingen, a partner of the hospital. For therapeutic treatment, the hospital has a wide range of rooms available for individual and group therapy. The immediate proximity of the hospital to the thermal salt-water baths and the graduation house extends the range of alternative treatments available considerably. A doctors‘ centre is also attached to the hospital divided into various subjects. This guarantees an optimum and comprehensive treatment for patients at the highest level. To implement the hospital‘s improvements, transtec designed a virtual server landscape under XEN with redundant CALLEO 322 high-performance servers with two multi-core CPUs and central ISCSI NAS3100L file server. transtec designed a backup concept to back up hospital data faster and more conveniently and to be available at any time in the event of any crashes. All of the above-mentioned components were integrated in a 19“ chassis with an uninterruptible power supply. The 200 hospital rooms were fitted with energy-saving TFTs as well as 30 workstations with energy-efficient transtec SENYO 610 Mini PCs for hospital personnel and doctors. Genotec

The Company The Solution Customer opinion
The Swiss Internet service-provider Genotec AG was established in 2001. The company currently employs 22 people and supports more than 17,700 shared hosting customers and around 300 server customers in its own PC centres in Allschwil and Basle. According to Netcraft, Genotec is one of the top ten providers in Switzerland and is even among the top three providers in the Windows environment. What’s more, it also boasts the quality mark of Swiss Quality Hosting.
A growing customer base is accompanied by a steady increase in requirements as regards customised servers and PCs. Genotec therefore requires new servers on a regular basis which are specially tailored to the requirements of individual customers. Major hardware manufacturers were unable to comply with these needs in practice.
transtec supplied tailored consulting and more than 180 individually-configured servers and PCs based on a built-to-order principle to the value of more than 180,000 Euros.
CALLEO range 101 and 301 servers as well as SENYO PCs were deployed enabling Genotec’s requirements for dedicated systems and shared hosting to be implemented in an optimum manner.
"I am convinced that a small or medium-sized company is best looked after by an equally medium-sized company."

"The control centre is of particular importance for us as our customers are also often technical experts whose feedback we continually incorporate in our developments. It is therefore imperative to have a hardware partner who is capable of reacting swiftly and with technical expertise to our requirements."

"The configurations made possible by transtec leave nothing to be desired. The good engineering is particularly tangible and the selection of components is always exactly right."

Simon Jenny, Managing Director and co-founder of Genotec

The trade fair centre in Stuttgart (LMS) opened its doors in October 2007. The move from the Stuttgart Killesberg to the Filder region doubled the centre’s exhibition area from 54,500 square metres to 100,000 – and provided the opportunity to create one of the most modern trade fair centre’s in Europe with a perfect infrastructure.
The LMS was looking for a compact PC with all the features of a desktop computer in modern outfit to equip 300 computer workplaces in the administration, customer relations and press divisions.
A standard design of all the PC workstations was important to LMS and it opted for the mini PC SENYO 600X including 19’’ displays, slimline keyboards and optical mice from transtec AG, who also provided an individual design of the computer chassis. The features at a glance:
  • Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T5500
  • Double-layer DVD+/-RW drive
  • 4-in-1 card reader (for SD, MS, MMC & MS Pro)
  • Sound onboard
  • Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG, Gigabit LAN, Bluetooth
  • Interfaces: 1x DVI-I, 1x TV Port (S-video), 4x USB 2.0, 1x IEEE-1394a, 1x Audio Line Out, 1x Audio Line In, 1x RJ45

"We wanted a workplace solution whose look and feel were in keeping with the modern design of our trade fair centre. At the same time, the PCs needed to be state-of-the-art. transtec managed to convince us with the SENYO 600. The company offered the mini PCs with a configuration suited to our individual needs and changed the computers to incorporate our own customised branding. transtec thus contributed enormously to the modern and innovative impression of the new trade fair centre and also gained bonus points being a local supplier: thanks to the close proximity, support and spare parts are available extremely quickly."

At a first glance it would seem that surveyors, interior designers and ophthalmologists have nothing in common. But in fact they do: they rely on accurate measurements and therefore quite possibly employ instruments made by Topcon, a renown international producer and distributor of optical and electronic instruments used in medicine and civil engineering. Its European headquarters in the Netherlands has relied on products and solutions from ttec, transtec’s Dutch subsidiary, since 1997. Topcon has been one ttec’s OEM customers for nearly ten years. It purchases ttec PCs and installs its own products on them to create a complete endcustomer solutions. "ttec systems offer extremely high reliability. Over the many years that we have been using them we have had a very low failure rate."

"In the case of other providers we have had the experience that their systems underwent frequent model changes – too frequent for us. However, in the case of ttec we can count on hardware with long life cycles, an advantage for us since we do not have to constantly adapt our products to changing hardware designs."

Notary Supervisory Agency
The complete reference as PDF >>
The Company The Solution Customer opinion
The origin of the modern notary profession can be traced to the Middle Ages. During that period county bailiffs also functioned as presiding judges and they employed notaries as their delegated representatives to carry out secretarial duties at the district level. The connection of notaries with the state established during the Middle Ages continues to the present day. It is especially pronounced in Switzerland where notaries are state employees whose activities are supervised at the cantonal level by a Notary Supervisory Agency, which also asign notaries to monitor real estate transactions and bankruptcy proceedings. The 650 PC systems contained the following features:
  • 2.80 GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor, 865G Chipset, 512 Mb DDRAM
  • Floppy drive
  • Seagate 40 GB UltraDMA hard drive
  • 16x DVD-ROM drive
  • Onboard Intel Extreme Grafik2
  • Fast Ethernet LAN onboard
  • Extension slots: 1 AGP slot (4x/8x), 3 PCI slots (32-bit 33 MHz, standard profile)
  • Interfaces: 2 PS/2, 1x VGA, 1x serial, 1x parallel, 6x USB 2.0 (2 ports at the front), 1x RJ45
  • transtec optical mouse, keyboard (Swiss German layout)
  • Midi-tower
"We wished to replace our outdated PCs with quieter, more robust, modern units that would be compatible with our existing IT infrastructure and which would conform to today’s technical standards."
