| The Staff Office for Agricultural Information Systems of the Sachsen-Anhalt State Institute for Agriculture, Forestry and Horticulture, is, among other things, responsible for hardware and software support of the Agencies for Agriculture, Rural Land Consolidation and Forestry. It assists its personnel in mastering the high volume of applications for EU equalisation payments. The old system, in use since 2001, could no longer meet increased demands on storage capacity, performance and availability. |
After analysing its IT infrastructure LLFG decided that instead of expanding its old hardware, as originally planned, it would acquire a completely new solution. transtec was commisioned to deliver, configure and install the new hardware, which provides the required high performance and availability. The capacity of the system used for backups is now several terabytes.
A high-performance, versatile transtec Linux-based SAN (Storage Area Network) solution running SuSE Enterprise Server 9 is now in employed. It consists of two transtec 1002L servers, a transtec AMD Quad Opteron Server, two QLogic SAN Connectivity Kit 3000’s, each with a SANBox 5200 Fibre Channel 8-port switch and a QLA2340 Fibre Channel host bus adapter, Overland NEO 2000 backup system and a transtec 6600 Fibre Channel RAID system. |

| The Balzerborn hospitals form a highly modern rehabilitation centre for individual diagnostic procedures fitted with all the necessary equipment. Special examinations can be carried out at the nearby University Hospital in Göttingen, a partner of the hospital. For therapeutic treatment, the hospital has a wide range of rooms available for individual and group therapy. The immediate proximity of the hospital to the thermal salt-water baths and the graduation house extends the range of alternative treatments available considerably. A doctors‘ centre is also attached to the hospital divided into various subjects. This guarantees an optimum and comprehensive treatment for patients at the highest level. | To implement the hospital‘s improvements, transtec designed a virtual server landscape under XEN with redundant CALLEO 322 high-performance servers with two multi-core CPUs and central ISCSI NAS3100L file server. transtec designed a backup concept to back up hospital data faster and more conveniently and to be available at any time in the event of any crashes. All of the above-mentioned components were integrated in a 19“ chassis with an uninterruptible power supply. The 200 hospital rooms were fitted with energy-saving TFTs as well as 30 workstations with energy-efficient transtec SENYO 610 Mini PCs for hospital personnel and doctors. |

| The Swiss company nexellent AG in Glattbrugg is a supplier of managed data centre services for outsourcing IT infrastructures. In 2006, the company responded to customer demand and launched storage-as-a-service (SaaS). Once the new service was successfully up and running, an upgrade was soon required: a system to fulfil the highest high availability demands. transtec supported the Swiss IT service provider during both business development phases as an adviser and delivered the right solution. | Together with the experts at transtec AG, the Swiss IT outsourcing service provider developed a system solution for storage and backup services. The hardware is based on a high-availability storage system developed by transtec. Two transtec PROVIGO 550 SAS Business RAIDs form the heart of the nexellent SAN. The special features of these storage systems include low maintenance, convenient operation and a capacity of up to 60 hard drives and 45 Terabytes. In addition, it consumes around half the energy of other standard systems. By implementing the storage virtualisation solution, the storage infrastructure could be expanded with features such as snapshots. |
