14 GB All in One Go: The New transtec 5000 SCSI/IDE RAID System

Banbury/Tübingen, 21st July 2000.
transtec AG, the business-to-business (B2B) system manufacturer with direct computer sales is completing its SCSI/IDE RAID series with the addition of a new high-capacity system. The transtec 5000 SCSI/IDE RAID offers a previously unattained maximum capacity of 614 GB.

Until now it was only possible to operate six hard disks in an IDE RAID system. Now, for the first time, eight hard disks with 76.8 GB each are integrated into the transtec 5000. Thus economical SCSI/DIE systems now achieve even higher capacities.

The connection to the host is via an Ultra2 LVD SCSI port at 80 MB/s. The internal Ultra ATA-66 disk channels are outstanding for their data transfer rate of 66 MB/s.

transtec AG, listed on the Neuer Markt (New Market), is one of the first German companies to be able to offer such a solution. The transtec 5000 operates independent of the operating system and is available in a tower or rackmount version. For a price of DM 25,500 (EUR 13,037.94) incl. VAT the user receives a system that can hold its own with every SCSI RAID system and emerge victorious in a "price per GB comparison".
