transtec accelerates CALLEO 340 Servers to the next level
transtec servers now available with new Intel Xeon 5600 ProcessorsBanbury, Oxfordshire, March 17, 2010. transtec is releasing CALLEO 340 Servers with the new Intel Xeon 5600 Processor, codenamed Westmere. The processors come in quad-core or six-core variants. They deliver improved computing performance and reduced energy consumption over the predecessor model. The intelligent processor management automatically adjusts clock cycle and energy consumption to prevailing computing requirements. Offering a maximum 96-gigabyte RAM, the processors have enough capacity to adapt to ever-increasing performance demands. The new transtec servers provide companies with a maximum return on investment. transtec CALLEO 340 Servers are available from 1,590 GBP (excl. VAT).
Universal application at low energy costs
The new transtec CALLEO 340 Servers are designed for standard business use as well as intensive computing applications such as multimedia or database applications, for instance. The new servers are also a solid basis for virtualisation or as an integral part of a high-performance cluster. The servers can be configured with S-ATA, SAS II or SSD hard drives depending on the area of application. The maximum memory capacity is 72 terabytes. The transtec CALLEO 340 is particularly energy-efficient thanks to the Intel Processor performance management and the deployment of high-quality 80-plus power supplies. Heat and noise emissions are kept to a minimum – and energy costs are reduced accordingly.
Efficient decentralised server administration
The new transtec CALLEO 340 Servers are configured with an Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI 2.0) as standard for administrators to manage, control and fix all functional and power modules centrally over the network. An administrator is only required on-site in the event of a hardware breakdown. A dedicated LAN port for remote access and comprehensive security features ensure that authorised persons only can gain access.
Immediate use and efficient
Server breakdowns or upgrades affect business productivity. This is why transtec servers are tested thoroughly before shipment. Server experts ensure that standard and customised systems are ready for immediate and efficient application. Torsten Schmidt, transtec's Server Product Manager comments: "For over 30 years, transtec has been advising and supporting SMBs and institutions in configuring and running their IT environments. It is a fact that the best IT systems are those you don't have to worry out. The new transtec CALLEO 340 Servers deliver twice the security of other systems: they offer absolute reliability and fail safety in operation and they have sufficient computing and storage capacities to last the next few years."
transtec CALLEO 340 Servers are available in a rackmount with up to four height units and in a tower.
The entry-level variant of the transtec CALLEO 342 Server is configured with:
